Chattanooga Film Festival 2016: Everything is Terrible

Back at the beginning of April, I was able to go to the Chattanooga Film Festival with Mass Listeria (thanks again, Daniel and Tim, for bringing me on board...puns and all).  For four days, the Majestic Theater in Chattanooga was filled with movie lovers of all shapes and sizes.  Comedy, horror, drama, documentaries, short films, animated films, independent films...the festival had movies for everyone, regardless of tastes.  Over the next several posts, I will be posting my reviews of the movies/events that I saw there (in the order that I saw them).  Next up - Everything is Terrible!.

The CFF program description for Everything is Terrible! was:  Everything is Terrible! has alterted the consciousness of a generation, one re-edited VHS video at a time!  Over the last eight years, EIT! has introduced the world to such YouTube gems as Duane, the pedophile-stomping yellow dino, French pubic hair styling, cat massage, and more!  And now...as a live experience, YOU the viewer get to unplug your internet brain and plug in your true being!  EIT! will hold your hand while guiding you through the seven psychedelic realms of Terrible found video, but there's a catch!  You will be in control of your destiny!  You will be asked to Choose Your Own Destiny!  Each step of the journey will be selected by the audience!  If you choose wisely, your voyage will take you to the highest peaks of video enlightenment, but if you choose poorly, there's no telling where your night may go!  And don't forget to bring your Jerry Maguire VHS tapes!

The CFF program description for Bleeding Skull presents:  Scary Tales was:  A hooded figure with glowing eyes appears in a dense plume of mist.  He's encircled by silhouetted children who wait for him to read from an ancient tome.  So begins a three-part, shot-on-video horror anthology from 1993, which by all appearances is a period piece that takes place in 1985.  Drunk dads play darts, blaring ponytail rock drowns out middle-aged profanities.  This is followed by demonic possession, bathtub nudity, wide-scale slaughter and a man fighting medieval dwarves.

The CFF program description for The Sad & Beautiful World of Sparklehorse was:  A profile of Mark Linkous, singer-songwriter and founder of the alternative rock band Sparklehorse, who was a cult and influential figure in the alternative music scene before his suicide in 2010.  Introduction and post-film Q&A with co-directors Alex Crowton and Bobby Dass and writer/narrator Angela Faye Martin.
