Welcome

Hello all, and welcome to Gargyle Reviews.  A place where geekery abounds, and movies are talked about...mostly.  I assume that the majority people who are going to read this are going to be people who already know me, and are at least somewhat familiar with the Gargyle.  But in case there is anyone out there who stumbles across this site, the Gargyle is what you see below (and is just as geeky as you're hoping it's not).  It is what you get when you have a gargoyle wearing an argyle sweater...a Gargyle.

I've done a few movie reviews on my other blog (found here).  But after I created the Gargyle, I wanted to put it to use.  Plus, I love movies and I love talking about movies...so I kind of wanted to have a site that was more devoted to just movies.  I plan on continuing my other blog for photography, sketches, and other random musings.  I've not done a very good job of posting on my other blog very often, so I'm hoping that I will be able to keep this one updated a bit more regularly.

As I mentioned when I first started doing reviews at my other blog, this is going to be a process in the making.  This is mostly going to be for my own enjoyment, to be able to talk about the movies I watch...and hopefully get a few responses.  The movies that I'll be reviewing will not all be brand new movies as soon as they come out. I'm going to try to see a few in theatres, but most of what I'm going to watch is going to be movies that I either already own or are available on Netflix.  I've not fully worked out my rating system (like I said...this is still a process in the making), but basically it will be a mix of how much I liked the movie (1 to 5...1 = hated it, 5 = loved it) and whether or not I recommend it.  What I recommend will be contextual as to what the format was.  In other words, if I saw it via Neflix, then I will only recommend whether or not to add it to your queue.  If I saw it in theatres, I'll recommend whether or not I think it needs to be seen in theatres.  But sometimes (if I own the movie, or if I'm familiar with all of the extras included), I will also be recommending whether or not the movie is worth buying.  As I go along, I assume that there will be some adjustments to my rating and recommendation system.  But if you'd like a little more explanation on how I'll be rating/recommending, check out my blogs here and here.

Like I said, I love talking about movies.  Part of what I love about talking about movies is getting views and opinions from other people who have seen them.  So if you'd like to leave any comments, please do so!  Also, please let me know if you have any suggestions or recommendations for what you would like me to review.  If you'd like to catch up on the few reviews I've done so far, check them out here, here, and here (yeah...I've only done 3 of them so far).
