Chattanooga Film Festival 2016: Only Yesterday

Only Yesterday (1991)
PG
Chattanooga Film Festival 2016

Back at the beginning of April, I was able to go to the Chattanooga Film Festival with Mass Listeria (thanks again, Daniel and Tim, for bringing me on board...puns and all).  For four days, the Majestic Theater in Chattanooga was filled with movie lovers of all shapes and sizes.  Comedy, horror, drama, documentaries, short films, animated films, independent films...the festival had movies for everyone, regardless of tastes.  Over the next several days, I will be posting my reviews of the movies that I saw there (in the order that I saw them).  Next up - Only Yesterday.

Rather than just blogging my reviews, I am going to be providing my reviews via podcast.  I'll be providing the description of the films provided in the Chattanooga Film Festival program and trailers via YouTube, when available.  The descriptions and the trailers of the movies might let you know what they are about, but if you want to know what I thought of them...well, you are just going to have to give the podcast a listen.

The CFF program description for Only Yesterday was:  A 27-year-old office worker travels to the countryside while reminiscing about her childhood in Tokyo.  Featuring the voices of Daisy Ridley (Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens) and Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire).  A masterpiece of time and tone, rich with humor and stirring emotion, and beautifully animated by one of the world's most revered animation studios, Only Yesterday has never been released in North America.

Sci-Fighters is a podcast where we will be talking about movies, technology, books, science fiction, fantasy...and pretty much any other aspect of pop-culture that we all loved growing up (and continue to love still)!!  It is part history, part future, part nostalgia, part geekery, an part nerd-rage!

The Monster Pod - Nosferatu

Tired of watching horror movies that suck?  Then you should start watching horror movies that suck...BLOOD!!!!  If we didn't lose you with the terrible opening pun, then hopefully that means we've driven the stake of interest into your heart!  So, join me and Lucas as we dig our teeth into Nosferatu (1922), Nosferatu (1979), and Shadow of the Vampire (2000)!!

As usual,  it should be noted that this is more of an in-depth dissection of the films and not necessarily just a "review."  There are some major spoilers throughout the section of the podcast.  So, if you haven't seen Nosferatu, Nosferatu, or Shadow of the Vampire, go watch them first and then come back to get our take on them.

We hope that you enjoy our fourth episode and that you keep coming back for more.
